All past and present members of the Canadian Race Communications Association are invited to join in the 50th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, April 4th 2009 at the Holiday Inn in Oshawa.



This milestone event will be the perfect opportunity to renew old acquaintances, to share memories and to celebrate 50 years of CRCA's contribution to the success of motor sport in Canada!



Schedule of Events:



1:00 - 4:00 p.m. - Meet and Greet

1:00 - 4:00 p.m. - Memorabilia Hall open to attendees

6:00 - 7:00 p.m. - Cocktails

7:00 - 8:30 p.m. - Dinner (Dress - Business Casual)

Festivity Ideas to date:

  • dinner & dance at the Holiday Inn Oshawa
  • bus charters from centralized locations, east and west
  • block booking of hotel rooms
  • package deals on bus/hotel/dinner/dance
  • meet & greet / snacks & beverages with display of CRCA archive (drawn from CASC records, CRCA records and CRCA members' memorabilia)
  • 50th Anniversary book (with images, articles from archive and 20th & 30th Anniversary books, more recent activities)
  • guest speaker at dinner
  • name tags with dates of membership in package when signing in
  • keepsake package ("logbook", nametag, various mementos)
  • photographer to take pictures at each venue (meet & greet, archive display, dinner, dance, etc)

The above list reflects just a few of the activities that may be part of the anniversary celebration. 

We'd love YOUR input - send us your ideas!

We'd love the assistance of members and former members...
with all aspects of the festivities.  We're looking for people to help out in every capacity but to give you some examples, we need people to:

  • locate sponsors willing to donate gifts
  • collect photos and articles for a commemorative book
  • locate, collect and store memorabilia for a display at the event
  • edit/publish the commemorative book (or find a sponsor willing to do the job)
  • find sponsors interested in advertising in the commemorative book to help offset the publishing costs
  • confirm contact info and contact members/former members 
  • help with setup/teardown at the chosen venue (displays)
  • generate ideas for activities leading up to and taking place at the 2009 event that would be of interest to the young and not-so-young

The above is only a partial list and as you can imagine, an event of this magnitude will require a considerable amount of planning and coordination.  Paul Meyer, former President and long-time member of the club is the committee Chair, Paul Seaman is the Co-Chair, Barb Wong the Secretary, and Peter Angelidis, Dianne Bos Donna Budgen and Paul Clarke make up the other committee members.

This is a truly a once-in-a-lifetime gathering of members spanning the 50-year history of our club.  If you are interested in helping to plan a celebration of the most significant milestone in CRCA's history, please contact the committee secretary.
